Board Member: Ken Erskine - Chief Executive Officer
Ken has over twenty years of proposal and bid management experience within the construction industry. He leads major and business critical bids at John Sisk & Son Ltd. His portfolio of successful bidding ranges from traditional construction bids through to multi billion pound partnership deals. To date he has been involved in securing in excess of £20bn of revenue through successful bids. Ken’s focus on continuous improvement and efficient use of resource has ensured he champions best practice in every aspect of his work - from the approach and management of the bid process, through to developing value-based customer-centric bids. This process is delivered through informed and motivated bid teams, often drawing on relationships, services, techniques and products from Ken’s UKAPMP involvement. Ken has been a member of the UKAPMP since 2005 and is passionate about the organisation and its continued development. Board Member: Nic Adams - Chief Operations Officer
With over 20 years IT Industry experience including more than 10 years in bid management, Nic has an extensive background in the management, coordination and control of corporate bid processes, proposal management and project management. Nic has a history of personal involvement in non-profit organisations and has been elected to numerous board positions within the AFSM International, Rotary, Lions International and various school boards. Having been an active member of UKAPMP for the past four years, Nic recently held the position of Finance Director and will continue to work with the committee in his new role to ensure a solid financial footing for the association going forward. email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Board Member: Frances Campbell - Events and Conference Director
Frances spent 15 years in procurement before making a career change to support the set up of the Compaq UK Strategic Proposal Centre. Frances has extensive experience in bid and proposal management in Vodafone and within HP’s IT Outsourcing division. A member of the UKAPMP since inception, Frances is passionate about seeking and applying best practice to the pursuit phase of customer engagement. Board Member: Chris Milburn - Marketing, PR and Communications Director
Chris began his career as an engineer, designing aircraft mounted oil exploration systems, and developing communications systems for the Royal Navy. He then moved in to Business Development, and it was here that he gained his experience in the proposal industry, through a series of bid management and consultancy roles. As a salesperson, facilitator and trainer, Chris now predominantly works for Shipley Ltd. and Proposal Genie, running training workshops and generating new business for both organisations. A member of APMP since 2007, Chris took on the role of administrating the job vacancies pages on the APMP website in 2009. He is delighted to have been invited to join the APMP board. Chris is looking forward to supporting APMP to increase awareness of what we do, and working with the other board members to develop an enhanced suite of services for our members, promoting APMP to an even wider audience. Laurence is now the Head of the Ricoh Bid Team having performed other commercial roles and been the Financial Controller, for 20 years within the Group. With a wealth of Operational skills and Commercial awareness, Laurence has created a solid platform for the Bid Team and encourages the use of Best Practice and continuous improvement. Having been a member of the APMP since 2007, Laurence now supports the UK APMP challenges of 2010. Board Member: Ken Newland - Communities of Interest Director
Ken has been engaged in winning new business for 35 years working on both sides of the commercial divide, providing bid support to industry and Tender Evaluation management to Customers. He has worked in bid teams in Continental Europe, USA, Australia and UK. His background is mainly in Defence, spending 23 years at Ferranti in Project Management and Business Development. As MD of Quintec Associates he went on to grow a successful systems engineering and bid support consultancy, joining Thales when the consultancy was acquired. Over the past 8 years he has also provided internal bid, prime contracting and risk management training to Thales staff in all disciplines. More recently he has also provided training on behalf of Shipley(UK) Ltd. Ken is qualified as an APMP Practitioner and is a Chartered Engineer. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Project Management (APM) where he chaired the APM Specific Interest Group (SIG) on Risk Management, supporting many innovations and publications. He aims to bring this APM experience to the APMP in his role sponsoring Communities Of Interest, a principle to which he is deeply committed.
