Jon Darby, CPP APMP - Chapter Chair

jon darbyFor over twenty years Jon has been helping companies in the ICT, defence, rail and logistics markets win business in the public and private sectors, as well as internationally. He has hands-on experience in a wide variety of business winning roles, enabling him to lead and improve the performance of bid and proposal operations.

For the last five years Jon has volunteered his time to serve on the board of APMP UK as Marketing Director, Chapter Vice Chair and now as Chapter Chair. He has been a member since 2004 and has benefitted from the many networking and learning opportunities that attending APMP UK chapter events and annual conferences has given him. In 2012, he achieved the professional level certification (CPP.APMP), and now mentors others to help develop their careers.

Jon takes take pride in advancing the business winning profession and establishing it as a recognised and valued career. His goals for 2018 as chapter chair are to promote a transparent and accessible chapter, encourage the next generation of bid and proposal professionals, and invest in member benefits.

Outside of APMP, Jon is the owner of BidCraft – a business winning service provider that helps companies achieve their sales growth targets by optimising how they select, pursue and win the right opportunities.

Alan Howard - Certification Director

Alan howardAlan began his career as an engineer, working with IBM mainframes before moving on to System Engineering He was selected to become an IBM proposal consultant, it was here that he first became exposed to the arcane art of bids and proposals. Then he was headhunted several times to a series of bid management and consultancy roles.

Later became a Sales Manager, facilitator and trainer, developing additional skills . Alan now has his own company, providing bid and proposal services as well as running training workshops.

Alan joined APMP in 2009 and was appointed to the board of the APMP UK in 2016 as the Certification Director. He has been heavily involved with the mentoring programme and the conference training days.

Chris Colquitt - Technology Director

Chris ColquittChris Colquitt is the manager of the global proposal management team at Clarivate Analytics, supporting customers accelerate the pace of innovation. From working to cure cancer through to putting people on Mars, they help customers across the world identify and answer their important questions.

Within the UK APMP, Chris acts as Director of Technology. Here, he works with a team of volunteers to support and evolve the current technology systems, to identify and communicate a technology landscape for UK bidders and to support the other workstreams in IT special projects.

Claire Bird - Apprenticeships and Development Director

Claire BirdClaire has been a member of the APMP since 2012, achieving Practitioner status in 2015.  She has previously volunteered as part of the ‘Trailblazer Group’ responsible for developing the first apprenticeship programme for the bid and proposal profession within the UK.  Claire has 10 years’ experience working across a range of sectors, and has held a number of senior Bid Management roles for Lloyds Banking Group, NG Bailey and Accent on Training Limited.  She is passionate about bid and proposals, and making it a career path of choice, and is excited to support the development of opportunities for young people, within a profession that spans multiple industries.

Claire managed the world’s first Bid and Proposal Apprenticeship at NG Bailey, and is well placed to drive through the Bid and Proposal Coordinator Apprenticeship.  Working with the wider trailblazer team, she hopes to develop the Apprenticeship Director portfolio by continuing to build on the great work done so far to further embed the scheme and raise awareness across industries.

Karen Althen, CP.APMP - Events Director

Karen AlthenKaren is Senior Bid Manager in Daisy (an IT and Telecoms Company) and over the years has used her APMP experience to help win major bids and places on government frameworks. Karen promotes APMP throughout her organisation and encourages all members of the bid team to follow best practice, ensuring consistency and success across the bidding cycle.

She has been a member of APMP for around ten years and during that time has organised successful events and mentored other members to Practitioner level. In addition, she has presented at local, national and international events including the APMP International Conference.  Karen will assist in the organisation of regional events and will attend as many as possible in order to get to know members and build up a rapport with local organisers. She also has some innovative ideas as to how events are run and hopes to generate interest in APMP and increase membership.

Martin Kaye, CPP APMP - Treasurer

Martin Kaye apmpMartin first joined APMP in 2005 as the APMP UK committee member for membership.· After a short break, he returned to the same role in 2012 and is now moving on to be the Finance Director.

Martin has over 20 years of experience as a bid manager, being skilled in leading teams to win profitable high value contracts through use of best practice. Early bid management experience was in aviation control systems and telecoms. Over the last nine years Martin has been contracting in a variety of industries as diverse as security and travel management and he enjoys the diversity and flexibility that working as a contractor provides.

Nic Adams, CF APMP - Director APMP International

nicadams sqrWith over 25 years IT Industry experience including more than 15 years in bid and engagement management, Nic has extensive experienced in bid, proposal, contracts and programme management and is skilled in the development of the Win Strategy, creation of the Value Proposition with a broad background in the development, management and control of corporate bid processes.

Nic has a history of personal involvement in non-profit organisations and has been elected to numerous board positions within AFSM International, Rotary, Lions International and various education institutes.

Having been an active member of APMP since 2004, Nic has served on the UK Chapter Board of Directors since 2007, holding the offices of CFO from 2007 to 2009, COO for 2010, CEO for 2011 and 2012 and of Immediate Past CEO for 2013 before once again taking on the role of the UK Chapter's Chief Financial Officer for 2014.

Nic fully embraces the APMP mission.  He is an elected director on the international APMP Board.

Peter Lobl - Membership Director

Peter Lobl sqrPeter is Membership Director of the APMP UK and an EU Commission Expert Reviewer. He has worked on both sides of procurement, providing advice and guidance to Public Sector (Kent County Council, Home Office) and private sector clients (Unisys, Alcatel, HP) on how to get the best out of the Public Sector bidding process. As director of Sixfold, an APMP approved ATO, he is personally in touch with countless new members each year and believes passionately in the APMP as a powerful enabler of bid professionals.

Peter works with Sales and Bid Managers in large multi-national corporations to develop excellence in all aspects of winning high value business. This has included developing account and capture planning processes, honing client relationship skills and assistance with all aspects of bid development. Peter has been a member of the APMP since 2006 and achieved Practitioner certification in 2008.

Vicki Jackson - Communications & Marketing Director (acting) and Conference 2018 Director

vicki jacksonVicki is an ambitious, tenacious and commercially astute bid management professional with 10+ years’ experience leading £multi-million bids and tenders on behalf of both private and public sector clients. She demonstrates a particular expertise in the NHS/Healthcare, Defence and Legal/Professional Services sectors and has an industry leading tender win rate of 85%.  Passionate about all things bids and proposals, she is devoted to promoting and professionalising the art of winning business. Vicki is personable, dynamic and brings energy and a real enthusiasm for bidding to the organisations she works with.

Vicki has been a member of APMP since 2012 and is excited to be supporting the UK Chapter in the delivery of its strategic goals, building on its current comms and engagement activity and developing the way we engage effectively with our members.
